I woke up at 430am bc of my body clock now. No need to hike out so I wanted to be productive. I went and used the nice bathroom since no one was showering yet, so good. Then I ordered some things I needed and caught up on some errands.
By the time 6-7am rolls around, everyone is up and moving around. As usual, we were starving so we took the 730a shuttle to town for breakfast. I ordered a yummy eggs benny and went over to the store for resupply. Their grocery was set up so nice. Perfect for hikers and fun new snacks we haven't tried yet! Resupply is kind of fun now and I think I'm getting the hang of things. It's always fun to pick out new and exciting things bc most of the time, we just look forward to food. I feel like I need to budget more but it's hard and each grocery store has way different prices.
I came back to the house to organize my food. I finished some last things and packed up my stuff. With six days of food and 5 L of water, this is probably the heaviest carry out of town. We've been hiking out around 3-4p if we're leaving town and it seems to be working well. As usual, we start to get restless while waiting for the afternoon to come along. We all have a Kristen a big hug since she was heading out tomorrow. She seems really happy and in a great spirit. She is such a gem.
Finally we head out around four and one of the trail angels takes us to the trailhead. The climb out today was steep and we were weighed down pretty bad with our packs. My shoulders and ankles were hurting. Thankfully the weather was overcast and windy. It was quite chilly around the ridge. We were so tired. Once we reached the other side of the pass, the wind was much calmer and we tried looking for a site. It took awhile since nothing was flat. Lisa and Rusty went ahead to try and find a better spot and I'm camped under some trees and GB behind me a bit on the trail. I couldn't wait to pitch my tent and eat dinner. I was exhausted bc I had been up since 430a. I haven't camped alone in awhile, it's nice. I had tried blogging last night but literally passed out with my phone in my hand. They is also the first time to be sleeping cold in a long time, it feels really good. I can see my own breath in the tent. This next section should be interesting. Another detour, long water carries and hot flat stretches.
