So sad to leave stehekin today. This place is so wonderful. We all decided to catch the first bus out around eight. Got dropped off at the bakery again but this time we knew the system and how to order. I got a quiche, a sammie and two savory filled croissants. Then back on the bus and back on trail. There's basically this giant long hill out of stehekin, 20 miles to rainy pass and five more to the very top. Today just felt long and slow. I ended up doing most of the day by myself. All I ate today were pastries. So good. I left the docs and baton a note that I was going up to rainy pass. I barely passed anyone going north today. It was so dead.

I walked up to rainy pass and it was almost seven already. The only camp options were some spots behind the pit toilet and n cascades hwy. Also can't believe I've reached this hwy by foot. Baton ended up coming and he said the docs stayed back. So sad we may not see them again. We ended up staying here w some other hikers even though it smells like pit toilet. We were told that harts pass just closed tonight and now mezama is at a level two evac. Everyone is freaking out and hiking 30s to the border. I am so anxious. I think we'll do at least a 30 tom. I'm a bit bummed we won't be seeing the docs again.
