Today is trail days! I slept pretty decent. It was surprisingly calm around me. A few ppl came to set up camp at night but it was fine. I woke up to twice as many tents as the night before. Crazy. I decided to go to the dining hall right when they opened at 630a to catch up on blogs and fully charge. I guess it's a pretty popular place bc tons of ppl started coming in after me. And one of them was BG! I got a yummy breakfast and tried their French toast. So good. I met a couple of sobos, saw necktie one last time before he hitched to Portland and met cotezi!
It was starting to get close to ten and Trent sent me a text so I immediately ran out and waited for him and the horses at the bridge. There were a bunch of ppl and I saw ying!! He rode on by w the horses, so cute. Then I was conflicted on whether or not to keep following. It was extremely difficult to get photos. I have no clue if anything even came out. Bad light and shadows. I only went a little in on the grating before turning around. Didn't really wanna have to walk the bridge four times haha. Some reporter from hood river ended up interviewing me a bit on the way back. Then I walked back into town and wanted to get my box. Ran into JZ and he told me to try the the po before the ale house but no luck. I walked back to camp and then back to the event. Finally got to see matt at bedrocks. Hadn't seen him in a few years since he was living out of his subbie! Ran into tons more ppl. Zpacks as usual was absolutely swarmed all day.
Then I saw my class of 2016 hikers!! Tori/joe and laura/Andy. So awesome to see them!! We reminisced and caught up on stuff and then I headed back to ale house for my box. Then walked all the way back to camp to take down my tent and organize. They helped me sort my things and get me set up for WA. I honestly have no clue what I need but I'm so excited for the stove. After that, we walked back to the park and I dropped my stuff off at zpacks so I didn't have to carry them around. I finally got food. Noodles again. I don't even know how time flew so fast but saw tons of other ppl and then the crowds were finally starting to die down. I checked in w the dudes and we were finally starting to head out. Except they were finishing beers and loitering at lint's van. I was so tired just ready to escape the crowd. I ended getting a ride out w brian. He lives in Portland and ended up helping zpacks out at their booth all weekend. It was so generous of him to drop me off at eve's so I didn't have to ride in the uhaul.
The light was so soft and nice on the ride home w windows rolled down. I arrived at eve's just after dark and we got to catch up. She told me all about what happened w her ankle and it was so crazy to hear the story bc it was so similar to mine. It's really amazing the ppl you meet on trail. Some of them will really go over and beyond to help another hiker out and some will just not but that's okay. I finally took a real shower and started a load of laundry before bed.
