All the ladies went out to sisters coffee in the morning. The girls brought coloring books and reading books while Natalie, Jenny and I chatted. Then it was off to shelter cove resort. It is the stop between crater lake and bend. We planned on meeting mike and Jackie there and with all of the timing, we were able to catch them there before I went home! I also had some resupply boxes I had shipped myself which now worked out bc I could pick them up. I didn't tell them Jenny was with me so it was gonna be a surprise for them!!
Shelter cove was a super nice boujie resort with boats, docks, store and campgrounds. At night, they had cute twinkle lights framing the store. It was soooo good to see mike and Jackie. We had all met on day one and now I am going home but had Jenny with me. It felt like we've been friends forever. I picked up three of my resupply and gave them to mike and Jackie since they didn't mail a box and were going to hitch into town for it. We hung out under the tent for awhile and Jenny got to see thru hikers in their full trashy glory. We both felt like posers.
We reserved a car camping site for all of us to spend the night. Mike and Jackie took a Nero for us! We went and set up our beds as evening was crawling in. Me on a blow up bed, Jenny in a hammock and mike and Jackie in their tent. We then drove eight miles to the closest town for dinner bc we could. There was literally only one restaurant option here and it was this divey bar. Since we were with hikers, I ordered nachoes made of jojos (potatoe slices). We had some great conversations and laughed at things. I am really going to miss them. Mike and Jackie are probably my favorite couple on trail. I love their sense of humor and are so easy to get along with. I am rooting for them to the end!! They are one of our last friends standing.
We drove back to camp and crawled into our beds. The night was quite chilly, especially with no insulation. I actually woke pretty frozen and took awhile to warm up. We said our goodbyes and I drove them back to the trailhead. First time to see my friends walking away from me to finish what I also planned on doing but couldn't. It was sad but I am proud of them and know they will make it to the end.
