I slept surprisingly ok for people making noise throughout the night. Maybe I was just really sleepy, I heard them a few times but managed to pass out. Getting to bed late is hard bc I don't have much energy to get up super early. I think I set my alarm for 330a and snoozed for half an hour so I didn't get started till just after 4. It's always so nice hiking in fresh cool air. It was still warm a bit but better than 95 degrees and exposed. I couldn't find the trail several times after some road crossings so I had to backtrack several times in the dark. Kind of annoying. I crossed the dam but it was dark and couldn't see the views.
I over carried water in the morning since I was paranoid of running out but I think I just have to over carry when it's afternoon. It was a very long 8 mile gradual uphill today. Not bad though. This section was mostly in trees PTL. Some exposed areas but not nearly as bad as going into burney. So it was hot for sure but I didn't have to stop under every shade to cool down. I got to Clark spring and thankfully found a good shaded spot for lunch. I had made 18.5 miles by this time so I took a two hour siesta. I headed back out around 230pm. The sun had moved lower so that was nice but it was still hot. I wanted to go just sixish more to the next campsite. I don't want to push it more than 25 and burn out this section.
I got to the tent site and it was exposed and the sun was SO high still. I had a long time until it would cool down but I pitched my tent anyway. Sitting inside was like a sauna. It was pretty unbearable but I just wanted to lay down and rest. Also the blister has been bothering me today. I'm thinking of going into mt Shasta to go to the dr. I hope they can take me in right away so I can get back out. Ugh. Medical things are so complicated. I have to get my box from castella though and it seems annoying to get to.
