There was a fire yesterday at 5pm at chimney rock so the trail is now closed from Walker pass to Kennedy meadows. The only way is to get there now is to just drive. There are a few road closures but the west side on Sherman pass is open. It's so crazy. So many people are freaking out and trying to detour so quickly. We don't plan on leaving till Friday so we're waiting to get more updates to make a decision.

I tried sleeping in this morning but as usual, I am up early scheduling blog posts. I am all caught up which is great. I made a big bowl of fruit salad for breakfast and cold chicken wrapped in tortilla. Not bad. We headed into town with the gparents around ten. I went to the post office and mailed some things. Gpa Denis was getting a haircut at the salon next door. Then he took us into lake isa to the nail salon. They were not open. I had heard from gma Alice that sometimes they don't show up even though we had an appointment. Small town problems. We waited for awhile but no luck. So we met the boys back over at Neldas since they went there to order milkshakes while we waited. We walked in to find the diner filled with a ton of firefighters eating lunch. Apparently they were up all night trying to put out the fire but it was not completely contained. So insane.
We then decided to drive to Kernville to see what's up. The nail salon there was closed as well. I felt so bad bc Alice was trying so hard to take me to get my nails done but it was unsuccessful. I feel like such a princess but I've been looking forward to nails for so long. :( We ended up just getting lunch in town at a Mexican restaurant that the gparents really love. It was so yummy! I ordered a thing of nachos and finished most of it. We walked down to check out the river and it was going so strong. All of us were tired and hot so we headed home for siesta and rest time the remainder of the day.
I facetimed Jenny, Nancy, Jess and Jackie today! So much fun. Rusty was getting on my case about skyping people but I love it! I like seeing faces when I talk to people. I organized some food and we all basically sat around all day not doing much. It was chill. We researched a couple of things on the fire and made some plans to take the bus to ridgecrest tomorrow bc rusty needs to pick up a package and I am desperate for nails. They have at least four good salons in town according to yelp so I think I have a good chance of finally getting them done! Plus it gives us something to do. I had some salad for dinner with some chicken. I feel like we've been eating pretty good here. I'm sleepy. I'm gonna go to bed soon and everyone else is out in the living room.
