This morning we took it easy. No time agenda really. We talked over some plans decided we'll go into ridgecrest so the gparents generously took us into town. We went to the ups store first to pick up Rusty's package to find out that the truck just left with it en route to Kennedy meadows. Then we all did lunch at a Chinese buffet haha. It wasn't too bad actually. We said our final goodbyes to Denis and Alice and went to loiter at Starbucks. They have been so good to us and have been going over and beyond to serve us. I really enjoyed my time with them, it was so relaxing.
Saw some hikers at starbs. It was starting to get super hot outside in the 100's. I finally got to FaceTime Dorothy for a little bit before she went into work yay! GB's friend's dad, max, came and picked the boys up. Max said GB could take his car and pick me up after I was done. I was gonna loiter around until my nail appointment. I had called over six salons ridgecrest and they were all booked except one in the evening. So crazy that these small towns have so much nail business. I feel stupid for wanting to do my nails so bad and planning my day around it but I can't explain how happy it makes me feel to have nail polish on. I'm not trying to be a princess but it's just something I've always had for the past 15 years.
I walked about a mile down the main road to the nail salon. It was super hot. Some random car pulled over asking if I needed a ride but I was like no thank you. He didn't even ask where I was going. O_o I arrived to the salon early and she was able to get me started right away. I didn't need all that callus shaving and stuff. I told her painting and cuticles was enough since I just trimmed my nails this morning. Man, you don't know how happy I was to see red nails. The boys just don't understand. They took off SO much dried skin. Felt so good. Then the boys came and picked me up and we had a fun drive back to Max's house with the windows rolled down in 105 degree weather.
Max lives out in the country in inyokern on a pistachio farm. It was so interesting. We took golf carts out and he gave us a little tour around the property in his underwear and showed how they harvest the nuts. It was fascinating. I felt like we were on a field trip. We came back and decided to just go to the store to bring back food for dinner. I got some Andouille sausages and an avocado. The boys got steaks and we would make a salad and French fries back at the house. I was in charge of the fries and they turned out so good. I added garlic pow, salt and smoked paprika and it tasted so gourmet. I ended not being able to eat the sausages, they had a really gross texture. We watched a movie and I passed out on the couch. Apparently the trail might be open tomorrow evening at six so we might head out there. It's gonna be hooooot.
