A bunch of hikers rolled in late to camp and were talking about how wasted they were the night before. I couldn't sleep. Then around midnight, my lips started feeling weird. It felt like something had bitten my lip and it started swelling and feeling numb. I tried to sleep it off.
In the morning, I woke and and got my mirror out to check on my lips in the dark with my headlamp. My bottom lip was HUGE! It looked like I gotten a lip injection and was about to explode. I freaked out and went over to gb to show him and he was like "whoah." He suggested I take a Benadryl. I knew it was going to make me sleepy so I just took one. As I was walking, I started feeling super drowsy. My eyelids felt so heavy and I kept dozing off. I even found myself walking with my eyes close for a few moments. I would trip over some rocks. So dangerous. I wanted to just pull over to the side and lay down to nap. I kept walking.
I met gb at the water and told him my problems. We walked a bit until lunch and found a mediocre spot. Everything was exposed and ridgy so we made it work. There was a great view of Shasta and we had service. I was able to take a good nap. We had agreed on a campsite and hiked out. I thought about making a detour to go to the lake but bypassed it. I knew gb was probably going to jump since he's a water boy. It started getting later into the evening and I waited for him a few times but he never came. So I just hiked on bc I was so sleepy and wanted to make it to camp. I set up at the corner of a ridge on the red sand. It was windy but felt good. I wasn't sure if gb would make it not and I didn't want him to over push himself.
As I was getting my bed ready, gb strolls into camp. I was glad he made it. He was definitely tired. We ate dinner and got ready for bed. I was so excited to go to sleep. Not a bunch of hikers around camp making noise, just the sound of wind to put me sleep.
